I recently visited this charming restaurant in Vienna and had a wonderful experience. It has a small, cozy garden outside, shaded by large trees which is perfect if it rains, and the outdoor seating was very comfortable and calm. The interior is also nice, but we preferred sitting outside. The restaurant offers a variety of beers and traditional Viennese dishes. The food was delicious, filling, and very authentic, though slightly on the pricier side. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic Vienna dining experience.

This place is just so so so good. Really high quality traditional Austrian food in a lovely cosy restaurant, with such friendly and welcoming staff. The meal I enjoyed with some friends was utterly faultless. Highly recommended.

Meixners Gastwirtschaft in Vienna is a hidden gem that has preserved the charm and culinary tradition of its founding in 1981. Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed at the door with excellent hospitality that immediately made us feel at home. Although there were no outdoor tables initially available—an area I highly recommend for its cozy ambiance beneath a large tree—we were offered a comfortable indoor seat and later invited to move outside once a table became free. The wine by the glass was excellent and reasonably priced, with the Grüner Veltliner being a standout choice. For mains, we had the Fledermaus, which was outstanding—the best schnitzel I’ve ever had—perfectly complemented by a well-seasoned side salad. The Rinderfilet was good, though it could have used a bit more salt and a more precise cook on the meat, but the accompanying potatoes were delicious. To finish, the chocolate ganache biscuit dessert was superb—rich, balanced, and the perfect ending to the meal. The draft beers were also top-notch. I highly recommend this place and will most definitely return.

What an amazing experience. The atmosphere and the decor, so cozy and inviting. The wait staff were all top notch and incredibly kind. The food! Fresh and seasonal choices along side some classic Austrian dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious. We left completely full and very happy. Do make a reservation, because even on a weeknight it was almost full! 10/10

Delicious menu, intimate restaurant, definitely a must try for Austrian food. Our waiter was very courteous and knowledgeable of the dishes. Very close to the U1 so it is easy to go to and from here. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area

For my first dinner out in Vienna, I had booked a table at the highly recommended Meixners Gastwirtschaft. It was easy to reach on public transport, and as soon as you stepped in the front door it felt warm and welcoming. The menu was full of classic dishes from Austria, so it was great to sample some local dishes that were cooked to a very high standard. I started off with Pumpkin Soup which was delicious, and very smooth. I then opted for the Schnitzel, which was the best I’ve ever eaten. Even though it was huge, it was very light, crispy and flavoursome. It also came with a lovely potato salad. The service was very friendly, and you could tell that the team running the restaurant really cared about the experience. Overall, I had a wonderful evening at Meixners Gastwirtschaft and I can see why it’s such a popular restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is great!
